Zenso in Malaysia: Side Effects, Halal, Which Set to Choose and Does It Work?

What is Zenso?

Zenso is a weight management series from Wellous. Every product starts with kurozu, the black rice vinegar brewed in clay jars in Kagoshima, Japan, and adds its own active ingredients. The idea is that weight gain has more than one cause, so the plan covers what you eat, what you absorb, what you burn and what your body holds on to:

• Kuro Daitto (meal replacement): about 130 kcal, around 10 g of protein and 18 vitamins and minerals per sachet, with Slimaluma cactus extract, soy and whey protein, konjac and fibre. Chocolate or vanilla macadamia, 30 sachets per box.
• Kuro Shuga (carb-block chewable tablet): patented CQR-300 Cissus quadrangularis, L-arabinose, white kidney bean, green tea, chromium and Gymnema. Fully plant-based.
• Kuro Oiru (fat-block chewable tablet): Morosil red orange, patented IGOB131 African mango, L-carnitine, garcinia, purple tea and chitosan.
• Kuro Mizu (botanical drink for water retention): CactiNea cactus fruit, juniper berry, meadowsweet, ginger root and Japanese red plum.
• Kuro Kosen (fibre drink, in the Pro set or sold alone): kurozu with prune essence and 3.8 g of fibre per sachet.

Which Zenso set should I choose?

• Advance (30 days): 3 boxes of Kuro Daitto (90 sachets), Kuro Shuga, Kuro Oiru and Kuro Mizu. Daitto replaces breakfast, lunch and dinner. The full plan.
• Pro (30 days): everything in Advance plus 2 boxes of Kuro Kosen.
• Lite (30 days): 2 boxes of Kuro Daitto (60 sachets), Kuro Shuga and Kuro Oiru. Daitto replaces breakfast and dinner, and you keep a normal lunch. No Mizu.
• Keep Burn: Kuro Shuga, Kuro Oiru and Kuro Mizu, with no meal replacement. For people who have finished a plan or prefer to eat normal meals.
• Single items: Kuro Daitto, Shuga, Oiru and Mizu can also be bought on their own.

How do I take Zenso?

Advance and Pro plan

• Morning: 1 sachet of Kuro Mizu and 1 sachet of Kuro Daitto.
• Lunch: 1 Kuro Shuga and 1 Kuro Oiru tablet, wait 30 minutes, then 1 sachet of Kuro Daitto.
• Dinner: 1 Kuro Shuga and 1 Kuro Oiru tablet, wait 30 minutes, then 1 sachet of Kuro Daitto.

Lite plan

• Morning: 1 sachet of Kuro Daitto.
• Lunch: 2 Kuro Shuga and 2 Kuro Oiru tablets, wait 30 minutes, then a normal meal.
• Dinner: 1 sachet of Kuro Daitto.

You can have a small mini meal between meals, ideally protein or vegetables. Drink 2-3 litres of water a day, and avoid sweet drinks, fried and processed food, sauces and alcohol. Black coffee and plain tea are fine. Rest if you feel very tired in the first two weeks, and add exercise from the third week.

Does Zenso work?

Zenso works by lowering how much you eat and changing what you eat for 30 days, with the tablets and drinks supporting the plan. How much weight you lose depends mostly on how closely you follow the meal plan, your starting point and how active you are.

On the ingredients, the makers of CQR-300 and IGOB131 (used in Kuro Shuga and Kuro Oiru) cite a 10-week, placebo-controlled study of 72 people (Oben et al., 2008). Those taking the two ingredients together saw average reductions of 11.9% in body weight, 20.1% in body fat and 21% in waist size. That study tested the ingredients, not the finished Zenso products, and individual results vary.

The booklet describes three phases: the most visible loss in days 1-14 (much of it water and stored carbohydrate at first), a plateau in days 15-23 as your body adapts, and building the new habits in days 24-30. Weight usually comes back if you return to old eating habits, so the plan is meant to change how you eat after the 30 days too.

Does Zenso have side effects?

Eating fewer calories is a big change, and in the first two weeks some people feel hungry, tired or dizzy, have mood swings, or have constipation or watery stools. Drinking 2-3 litres of water, eating the high-fibre foods in the guide and sleeping around 7 hours help. If dizziness is strong or does not settle, stop and see a doctor.

• Allergies: Kuro Daitto contains milk (whey) and soy protein, Kuro Oiru contains chitosan from shellfish shells, and Kuro Mizu contains honey. Avoid the product that contains anything you are allergic to.
• Not suitable: during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for anyone under 18. Adults aged 60 and above can take Kuro Daitto as a meal supplement, but should not follow the weight-loss plan.
• Medicines and conditions: Kuro Shuga is designed to reduce how much sugar and starch you absorb. If you take medicine for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol, or have a medical condition, ask your doctor before starting.
• Hormones: Zenso contains no synthetic hormones. Some women notice a small change in their cycle in the first month.

Is Zenso Halal?

Yes. The Zenso series is Halal certified by JAKIM. If you would like to see the certificates before buying, message us on WhatsApp. For vegetarians: Kuro Shuga is fully plant-based, while Kuro Daitto (milk protein), Kuro Oiru (chitosan from shellfish) and Kuro Mizu (honey) contain animal-derived ingredients.

What about Zenso reviews and before-and-after photos?

You will find many before-and-after photos online. Treat them with care: you cannot tell how strictly each person followed the plan, how long they took it or whether the photos are genuine. A fair way to judge Zenso is to follow one full 30-day plan as written, track your weight, waist and body fat with the tracker in the booklet, and keep the habits afterwards. Negative reviews often come from skipping the meal plan, or from the tiredness and hunger of the first two weeks, which usually ease as your body adjusts.
